Made on Gunggari
‘Made on Gunggari’ was inspired by the land on which we were born. We are a proud Murri Kamillaroi Kooma family owned business created by two Miimi’s (sisters) in 2020, Natasha and Lisa-May.
Natasha is a contemporary weaver who uses traditional weaving techniques with both contemporary fibres and traditional materials. Her beautiful traditionally weaved Tidda (Sister) basket necklaces and weaved earrings are individually weaved by hand, making each piece a one-of-a-kind creation. Her creations are inspired by the land, water, and sky of her family’s country and where she lives today. In addition to Natasha’s weaving, Lisa-May makes handmade Indigenous print children’s clothing and accessories.
In 2021 we expanded Made on Gunggari to include our garruu’s (uncles) beautiful and vibrant Aboriginal art, painted Didgeridoos, Coolamons, fishing lures and painted/carved Emu eggs. Our bubaa (dad) collects and polishes the petrified wood from Wulli Wulli country that we traditionally give in our Tidda Baskets. Petrified wood is a very healing and grounding stone, connecting with it helps to establish deep roots and connection to country, and can assist with calming your energies. We also use this polished petrified wood in our hand wrapped wire necklaces created by our gunii (mum).
